Pot in pot plant culture

Pot in pot culture is a great way to instantly add color to
a landscape without disrupting the integrity of the planting
bed. It is so easy to do that it almost feels like cheating.
So, what is it? An empty nursery pot is “planted” in the
bed at ground level. Then a planting in another pot the same
size or slightly smaller is inserted into the base pot. Whenever
you desire a change, all you need to do is plant a new pot and
switch it out. For example, pansies and snapdragons can be
replaced by summer annuals, then back to cool weather plants in
the fall.
Mums are relatively short lived, but they usually last a
little longer in a pot in pot situation, because they are less
likely to get dry than they would in above ground pots that
could fall over. When using drip irrigation. It’s even easier to
be successful. Also, if for any reason one pot looks bad, you
can quickly replace it. Pets are notorious for tearing up
plants, so it’s nice to have a spare.
With this method it is also easy to temporarily transform
your landscape for wedding receptions or other occasions. This
method might not be for everyone, but it’s another way to spice
up your landscape.
